GUEST LECTURER • REGENERATIVE DESIGN
Karelaine was invited to give a guest lecture for the students in the Introduction to Ecology class within the Biological Sciences Department at USC. The presentation focused on ecological restoration methods explored through her regenerative design case studies around Los Angeles.
Karelaine also led the class on a field trip to the case study sites to explore them in person and discuss the existing landscape and the potential methods to regenerate and restore their ecological environments as well as opportunities to reconnect their urban fabric with local communities.

Featured below are select sample slides from the Urban Nature and Ecology lecture at USC. Topics ranged from water conservation and habitat restoration to energy efficiency and carbon sequestration to regenerative and sustainable design methods for creating more balanced ecosystems within the urban fabric.
